Me too. Classic and functional. Though the lack of a shower might be a non-stater.

So now you’re also looking at bathtubs?

LOL, no. I’m spending way too much time on Shorpy looking at all manner of old photos. This just happened to be one of them.

I found this and now I really don’t want to work.

A little snow on the ground and it would be even better.

Yeah I would blow out the, what I am assuming is a linen closet, and make a big shower.

That looks almost exactly like the bathroom in our last California house built in 1941. Same sink, same toilet, same tub and same fixtures.

The caption reads, “Bathroom of tenant purchase house. Hidalgo County, Texas.” My grandmother’s house had very similar fixtures. I imagine that back in the day those sorts of things were utilitarian and not fashion.

Back then you could order a house from Sears! There were actual Sears craftsman bungalows in our neighborhood in Sacramento.

Sears Honorbilt Modern Homes were absolutely top  quality, too. Thoughtfully designed and with first- rate materials.

Or just turn the linen closet into a period correct 1930s-style stall shower.

I don’t think there is enough space there to make a nice big one

My wife has lots of family down there. That could be a picture inside of one of her relative’s house.

I lived in a Sears home. It had more air leaks than any house I’ve ever lived in. We had to cover all of the windows with plastic to keep the wind from blowing through. Even then, it was still cold. I’m not sure they knew what insulation was.

I don’t think wall insulation became standard in homes until the 1960’s. Even our normally built home in Sacramento was very leaky for air. We installed new windows and it was amazing how much quieter and warmer it became.

Explains  a lot.  Everyone has a big mouth Gertz who ruins everything.
